KPC Director assesses the past, visualizes the future - The success and progress of the Kenai Peninsula College over the past forty years can be credited to the people who have worked hard to make it happen, according to college Director Gary Turner. "We have been fortunate to have strong leadership from the very beginning. What Clayton Brockel accomplished during his tenure was amazing. He was able to create programs, acquire land and build buildings. He and the people who worked with him had to fight hard to get things started. What we have now is a real testament to their work and dedication."KPC art instructors share some personal treasures - This month’s art exhibit in KPC's Gary Freeburg Gallery is by KPC's own art instructors. There are acrylic paintings by Celia Carl Anderson, photography prints by Jayne Marie Jones, sculptures and ceramics by Joy Falls, ceramic sculpture and "Found Object Art" by Ann Wilson, "Mixed Media" and a drawing by Cathleen Rolph.Kenai River Campus Spring ‘05 registration is underway - While you read this, registration on the web for the Spring semester is already in full swing. Returning degree-seeking students began registering on the internet on November 22 and web registration for the general public began December 1st.New Year's reflection - A political commentary - The New Year is almost upon us, signaling the end of quite a political ride. A new sense of calm and reserve has permeated the media as the political rhetoric has been brought to a minimum, at least for the time being. As Democrats ponder how and where they can find themselves a Karl Rove, Republicans will be spending their "political capital" faster than our deficit.KPC will miss you! KPC honors retiring teachers - This year KPC is losing three long time teachers, Hanna Schott of 24 years, Allen Houtz of 26 years, and Linda Brazier of 28 years. Each having their individual ways of finding themselves at KPC, they also have their individual reasons for leaving. Schott and Brazier are retiring, Brazier at the end of the semester, Schott at the end of the year, and Houtz, while also retiring, is leaving to work at Agrium at the end of the semester.KPC sponsors local basketball team - Kenai Peninsula College is sponsoring a basketball team with the majority of the nine-man roster attending classes at KPC. The team is competing in the Kenai City League, along with 13 other local teams.Student life grows on the Kenai River Campus! - Student clubs are on the rise at Kenai Peninsula College. Last year students made strides to officially recognize interest groups as campus clubs. These efforts continue...Bear course saves student's life - Sunday 6 June 2004. I'd just spent most of the night packing to leave for my summer's research on bear behavior. Having hit the sack only around 3 a.m., I wasn't exactly pleased to be awakened just a few hours later by the ringing of my phone. Jerking awake and lifting the receiver, I was just about to say something rude when my caller said "Dr. Stringham, this is Warren. You just saved my life."
