A Note From KPC’s Director’s Office
Dear Campus Community,

Negotiations between ACCFT, the union that represents KPC full-time faculty, and the university were held last Thursday and Friday, October 30 and 31. Both parties have agreed to continue to negotiate the next two Thursdays and Fridays, Nov. 6-7 and Nov. 13-14, and are looking for positive movement in these future sessions.

A Tour of France and Italy via Kenai Peninsula College: Alaska to the Academia, Planning is underway for a spectacular private art tour to France and Italy next summer. .

KPC Circulating Statewide - Supplying Alaska’s blood need is no easy task. Amy Jackman, the Community Coordinator at the Blood Bank of Alaska’s Peninsula Center, knows “The need is always there.

New Developments at the Learning Center - As the enrollment at KPC grows, so does need for personnel in the Learning Center. State and District grants have helped the Learning Center in its expansion.

Flu Shot Drive Coming Up! - Kenai Peninsula College, with the help of the Kenai Public Health Center, is sponsoring a flu shot drive. The flu shots will be given on campus November 4th, from 1:30-4:30pm.

Phillip Miller Selected as Maintenance Supervisor- On November 3, KPC will welcome its new maintenance supervisor, Phillip Miller. Miller has worked in the maintenance department at UAA for the past twelve years.

What Faculty are Doing - Faculty members of Kenai Peninsula College are asked to perform a number of jobs not directly related to their teaching duties. These jobs are critical to the successful operation of the college, and make the learning experience more valuable for all students

New Digital Arts Degree - In keeping with current world trends toward digital technology, plans are underway at KPC for the establishment of a new degree program. It’s the Associate of Applied Science in Digital Arts Degree, with an emphasis on digital photography.

New Faces at KPC - Kenai Peninsula College and its neighbor Alaska Christian College have a new cooperative study program called Encore. According to Dr. Cheryl Davis, the ACC Academic Dean, eleven ACC students are taking classes at KPC this semester and the entire ACC student body has access to KPC facilities
