EVENTS

*Films being shown in KRC Commons in honor of Alaska Native/Native American Heritage month
Thanks to KRC's Multicultural Consortium, the following films will be shown in the KRC Commons this month:

Title Description Time Date
Village of No River This 1981 film summarizes life in the village of Kwigillingok (located 77 miles southwest of Bethel). Original footage from 1935-1942 is juxtaposed with contemporary scenes to show the change as well as the continuity in the lives of the Yupik-speaking people in the village. 1 p.m. Nov. 24
Villagers in the City

This film was made by Isaiah Woods, who grew up in Unalakleet, Alaska and began making films while still in middle school. Villagers in the City is an insightful and sometimes humorous look at four UAA students from Unalakleet as they transition to life at UAA and navigate in an urban environment.

1 p.m. Nov. 30

Both of these film events are open to the public!
